Column Engineering provides
software, hardware and mechanical engineering development services for a wide range of clients in the Midwest. Below are a few examples of varied types of projects we are either currently working on or have completed.

A Company which develops in home kidney dialysis machines based on the QNX RTOS. Our Engineers are working on all facets from system requirements to board level drivers and board support packages to operator GUIs and at all phases from system requirements to implementation and test. 

A Company which manufactures embedded systems controlled by MS Windows front ends. Our Engineers are designing and implementing high speed links (USB, Ethernet) to replace the existing RS232 links.
A leading designer and manufacturer of audio control equipment. Our Engineers are designing and implementing complicated graphical interfaces to allow setup of the audio channels to include spectral response, gain, reverberation and other audio parameters and graphically display these same parameters. The system is Windows NT based and involves activities ranging from system requirements to final testing. 
A Company which makes RF based physiological data gathering systems which allows maximum ambulatory patient freedom. Our Engineers are working on various parts of this MS Windows based system .
A Company producing custom Web Browsers.  One of our Engineers is working on feature additions and fixes to the existing browser and a second is responsible for tailoring the browser to suit individual Customers.  The system runs on both UNIX and Windows platforms as well as other less common systems.
A Company which makes an Optical Remoting feature to permit Universal Input/Output shelves to be connected by fiber optic cables and located up to 1500 feet from the core system. The development is being done with C++ and uses SONET. Our Engineer is working at the link layer, developing driver and control software.  Our Consultant is also involved in determination of frame sync offset constants to use throughout the system.
A Company which is developing the avionics for a prototype reusable orbiter.  Our Engineer is responsible for both hardware and software design and implementation as well as development process and other quality type activities.
